Writting Practice Using the Internet
week 8: Process Writing and the Internet: Blogs and Ning Networks in the Classroom; Online Collaborative Writing Using Wikis

Some options in which we as teacher can implement that method would be ask to students to write a personalized storybooks for children. Provide them readings for them to read and analyze and ask them to publish on a website or blog their analysis about the reader, the other students have to look for their classmates websites or blogs and read their information, make suggestions etc. Interactive stories, written by their readers: The students read the story page by page. At the end of each page there are two choices for what to do next. When the students reach the end of the part that the readers before them have written, they can create the next page of the story. Those are some options that I would apply on my classes with my students.

ResponderEliminarI just want to share my point of view about the activity in which students can write a collaborative writing. It sounds interesting to apply it in reading course because we both know having this class can be boring, but through that activity students can focus in the reading by cause of this they will be skeptical about what is going on and hopefully teacher can catch students' mind.
Greetings
ResponderEliminarI agree with your point of view, we have the tools for the students; we have many resources we can apply for them, just keep in mind we must have variety, try to make different activities whenever we give classes otherwise students may get bored if we use the same. In order to catch students’ attention we could apply written activities combine with listening activities or reading activities with speaking activities and teacher will be able to catch any mistake at any area. That form we will have specifically a correct path for each student depending of their needs. But for written activities we would notice some students have natural ability and other ones will need a little bit more attention; finally I think every of us will get the goal.
I totally agree with you Fernando. There are a lot of activities that teachers can deliver in a writing class. For example, do you remember the story we needed to create? I know it was a short story for children, but I do not know if you could notice that we needed to pay attention to our grammar, and the manner we were writing. That happened to me. As future teachers we need to focus in what our students are going to write and the time they will dedicate it. It is not the same providing them with the same topic than giving them the free choice of a topic of their interest. Probably we will have more work to read, but our students will be more motivated to write any topic of their interest.
ResponderEliminarHi Fernando, I have read your post and there is a point that you mentioned and I am not agree with that. You said that we as futures teachers are going to teach our students how to practice writing skill by creating essays, blogs, etc. But, how they will notice that what they are doing is good even if we taught and also we are not going to give them feedbakc? In their minds they will believe that they are doing good, but probably they might be wrong in something. Also, how a student can help another one if they are in the same situation? In mean if no one will not receive feedback from us.
ResponderEliminarI think that your idea of making a storybook is good but I will do that activity with advanced levels because even if you teach a basic level how to do that, they will not do it as you expect, in my opinion you should develop with advanced levels, because they have more vocabulary and they know grammar structure.
Hello fernando after reading your comments of this week let me tell you that I agree with you when you say "we can integrate some of the methods to make them practice writing",as master is very important to motivate our students, also we can observe the advancement that our students have in their second language. to conclude let me tell you that we have more tools of the internet to integrate as future teachers in our futural class such as blog and wikis.
